Tropical activities.

Our dinner out at Moya's Place with Rob and Dawn after going to the falls has a little more story. Their friend Andre was there too.  He knows Lane - a guy we met at a House Dinner a while back. Turns out Andre is also imbibing in the traditional medicines in the area. Hmm. Maybe this is how city troubles finds its way to smaller towns?

We stay late enough to catch some entertainment. A couple of excellent guitar players. One of my new favorite tunes is "Me Gustas Tu." Here's the YouTube link of the original:

Capo on 2nd fret: Am, G, Dm, Dm. Reggae strum pattern.  Fun stuff to play along with: "Mi corazon, mi corazon!"

Tuesday we drove out to the Butterfly Conservatory, largest in C.R. Excellent roads, and I mean in comparison to the Falls road Excellent all the way. Ample parking. Knowledgeable staff, beautiful displays and live environments:

Blue wave Butterfly

Malachite Butterfly

Clear wing Butterfly

Doris Longwing Butterfly

Blue jean frog (Poisonous)

Dart frog (5x lethal)

A clear day to see the Arenal Volcano.

Coati looking for food.

Road construction, keeping the jungle at bay.

Equal Temperament is the modern day tuning, makes transposing possible

Town square. We have done our share of laps.

Pickelball courts beside the ol' bull ring

Semi load of live chickens > 1500 all clucking away

Bee hive ginger plant

We never did see this bugger.

Didn't see this guy either but sure heard him sing!

Black is the coldest of course.

Pickleball is a good way to meet people and get some exercise too.  Our last day was Wednesday and I won my first 4 games, but the heat and humidity got the best of me and it went downhill from there. Still a fun time. Myra has more stamina than I do and continued to kick butt for a few more games.

Washed and gassed the rental car on Wednesday afternoon, getting it ready for its return on Thursday. Our last Gringo breakfast was Thursday morning. It was heart-warming to have a "come back soon" invitation from the group as we said farewell. Car rental return went well - and of course their POS machine didn't like my credit card like it did when we picked it up. But they have assured me (verbally anyway) that the deposit will be returned by... next Friday. We walk down the street to a Soda for an espresso and about an hour later - it takes a while to drink an espresso - we see the gal who picked up the vehicle cruising it up the road in our rental (twice) - maybe ratchetting up the miles before returning to La Fortuna, LOL.  Pura Vida.

Transitions for the next few days: breaking camp here, getting to San Jose, 2 flights to PV, hopefully with me guitarra, catching up with friends Thom and Glenn for breakfast in PV, before heading up to Guayabitos.
